Karate Combat: Evolution Set for Later This Month at a Secret Location

Karate Combat returns later this month with Karate Combat: Evolution on Sept. 21 airing on Karate.com and UFC Fight Pass.

The promotion will keep with the video game format including the technology used to track the fighter's biometrics with the HUD display for fans to see on Karate.com. Evolution's main event will feature the first title fight for the "Golden Belt." The presentation has always been unique, but Karate Combat is taking it a step further according to commentator and ambassador Bas Rutten. "Now we've taken the intense, full-contact action and added even more of that "Street Fighter"-type, '80s movie fun to the production at KC-1, the league's secret budokan," Rutten said in a press release about the upcoming event.

Having the regular location should help bring more events to fans of Karate Combat to watch, but attendance will still be VIP and invite-only. While Karate Combat is changing to the "secret budokan" location, fights will still be in the karate combat pit. Fights are full contact in the Karate Combat Fighting Pit, at three three-minute rounds (five rounds for title fights). Knockouts are encouraged and frequent. The rules are full contact, which includes throws and allows fighters five seconds to strike an opponent on the ground.

Luis "Pitbull" Rocha and Edgar "The Bearslayer" Skrivers are fighting to be the first champion in Karate Combat. Fans should expect two more events by the end of the year with a regular schedule in 2020. Karate Combat: Evolution airs at 7 p.m. ET, on multiple streaming platforms.
