This Day in MMA History: Nov. 29

On Nov. 29, 2003, TKO Major League MMA was in Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada, for TKO 14: Road Warriors.

In the main event, Dave Goulet TKO’d Shawn Davidson in the first round. The win improved Goulet’s record to 5-0, but unfortunately Goulet would end up retiring with a 6-4 record after a miserable 1-4 stretch. In the co-main, Patrick Cote earned a knockout win over Steve Vigneault, improving to 4-0 as a pro. Cote would fight once again for TKO before getting the call to step in for Guy Mezger against Tito Ortiz as a short-notice replacement in the main event of UFC 50.

The most notable name on the card was Georges St. Pierre, who submitted Pete Spratt in the first round to improve to 5-0. He would go on to sign with the UFC for his next fight, eventually capturing the welterweight and middleweight belts and cementing his status as one of the greatest fighters of all-time.

TKO 14 also had notable performances from Shawn Peters, who submitted Stephan Laliberte in the first round; Ryan Diaz, who also got a first-round submission win; and Thierry Quenneville, who beat Kajan Johnson by split decision.
