WEC 39 Breakdown: The Main Card
Main Card
Feb 26, 2009
After losing three weight classes to the UFC in recent months, one
might expect World Extreme Cagefighting cards to become thin as the
company adjusts to such radical change. If the latest show serves
as any indication, however, the WEC looks better than Heidi Klum 45
days after she pumps out a kid.
The plot was layered thick on the main card for WEC 39 “Brown vs. Garcia” this Sunday, as a four-fight lineup featuring the lightweight and featherweight divisions appears poised to keep the fans plenty sated inside the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
A main event featuring incumbent featherweight champion Mike Thomas Brown’s first title defense against Texas’ own Leonard Garcia anchors the show, along with bouts showcasing featherweight Incredible Hulk Jose Aldo and the only Pole cooler than Mariusz Pudzianowski -- Bart Palaszewski.
