Alexander vs. Saragih

Featherweights

Lucas Alexander (8-3, 1-1 UFC) vs. Jeka Saragih (13-3, 0-1 UFC)

ODDS: Alexander (-375), Saragih (+295)

With his being the UFC’s first fighter out of Indonesia, it is nice to see Saragih make a return after losing the lightweight final of the “Road to UFC” tournament in February. Saragih had two particularly brutal knockout victories over the course of the season, showing off his ability to obliterate an opponent in close quarters, but he got outwrestled handily by Anshul Jubli before being stopped in the second round. Now down at featherweight, Saragih gets an interesting test in Brazil’s Alexander, who steps in on short notice after his fight was scrapped from the recent Sao Paulo card. Alexander is still a fairly one-dimensional fighter, but he has proven to have the combination of size and speed to make his game work. He is almost entirely a pure range striker, constantly looking to keep a distance from which he can pick apart his opponent and fire off some impressive kicks. Saragih typically likes to start out from range himself, which plays right into Alexander’s hands. However, there does figure to be some intrigue whenever Saragih looks to close ranks and initiate some exchanges that could make Alexander uncomfortable. There is a chance that Saragih finds Alexander’s chin, but it seems likelier that the Brazilian can keep flitting out of danger and stick to his type of fight. The pick is Alexander via decision.
