Preview: UFC Fight Night 183 Prelims

Glenn vs. Minus

Lightweights

NR | Rick Glenn (21-6-1, 3-3 UFC) vs. NR | Carlton Minus (10-2, 0-1 UFC)

ODDS: Glenn (-330), Minus (+270)

Somehow still only 31 years old, Glenn is ready to continue his gatekeeper ways. The Iowan was seemingly around the regional scene forever before getting the UFC call in 2016, and he has been an entertaining fighter in the years since. While Glenn is clearly a non-athlete, he makes up for those deficiencies with skill and aggression, committing to making something happen through every moment of his fights. That consistent pressure is a double-edged sword, however. For every raw prospect “The Gladiator” manages to overwhelm, there is a talented athlete who has been able to make Glenn march consistently into the woodchipper. Glenn has now been out of action for over two years thanks to a hip injury, but he should enjoy a successful return to the Octagon. Minus comes out of the Alaska scene, and though he was facing a weak slate of competition, he showed some potential as a range striker who is slowly fighting his way into better athletic shape. Minus may yet reach his ceiling, but a clear loss to Matthew Semelsberger in his UFC debut suggests that it may take a bit longer for “Clutch” to hang at this level. Glenn cannot afford any level of athletic slippage whatsoever, but as long as there are no major lingering effects from his injury, this should be a one-sided win. The pick is Glenn via decision.
