By the Numbers: Germaine de Randamie vs. Aspen Ladd

Undefeated women’s bantamweight prospect Aspen Ladd will have the golden chance of defeating a former champion when she faces Germaine de Randamie in the UFC Fight Night 155 headliner. De Randamie, meanwhile, will be looking to get back to title contention. As they prepare for this pivotal encounter, below are some important numbers you need to know.

Age and overall experience

At 35, de Randamie is 11 years older than Ladd, who celebrated her 24th birthday on March 1. Ladd made her pro debut at Invicta Fighting Championships on Feb. 27, 2015 against Ana Carolina Vidal, and after eight fights, she remains undefeated. Meanwhile, de Randamie’s current record is 8-3. She made her pro debut as far back as Dec. 19, 2008 but suffered a submission defeat to Vanessa Porto.

UFC appearances

De Randamie entered the Ultimate Fighting Championship as a bantamweight after spending a couple of fights as a featherweight at Strikeforce. In her promotional debut at UFC on Fox 8, she defeated Julie Kedzie by split decision. For her next bout, however, she was given a tough task in no less than the current two-division champion Amanda Nunes, who knocked her out in the first round. Since then, de Randamie has compiled four consecutive victories at the expense of Larissa Pacheco, Anna Elmose, Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington.

Against Holm, de Randamie won the inaugural women’s featherweight title. But due to her refusal to defend the belt against Cristiane Justino, she was stripped of it later on. Her current UFC record is 5-1. Ladd, on the other hand, sports a 3-0 record, having beaten Lina Lansberg, Tonya Evinger and Sijara Eubanks.

Post-fight bonuses

Ladd has not fought for the title in the UFC yet, but she’s turned in some exciting performances so far. She earned Fight of the Night honors after her three-round war with Eubanks and Performance of the Night honors for her knockout of Evinger. After six fights in the Octagon, de Randamie has only earned one post-fight bonus, and that’s a Performance of the Night citation for her brutal knee TKO of Elmose.

Knockout rate

One of the division’s heavy hitters, Ladd has starched five of her eight opponents, making for a 63 percent knockout rate. Her victims include Ana Carolina Vidal, Kelly McGill-Velasco, Jessica Hoy, Lansberg and Evinger. As for de Randamie, only three of her wins have come via knockout, and these were against Elmose, Pacheco and Stephanie Webber. This makes for a 27 percent knockout rate.

Submissions

Ladd and de Randamie both have professional kickboxing experience and have never tasted defeat in the sport. The former finished her kickboxing career with a record of 8-0 while the latter had a 37-0 record. Because of this, it may not come as a surprise that they combine for just one submission win, which was Ladd’s armbar finish of Amanda Cooper. But that doesn’t mean their respective ground games aren’t on par with that of other bantamweights.

Career losses

As previously stated, Ladd’s pro record is a perfect one so far. De Randamie’s three losses, meanwhile have come at the hands of Bellator MMA champion Julia Budd, and as aforementioned, Porto and Nunes.
