By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night 219

If it wasn’t clear already, Erin Blanchfield has arrived as a contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s flyweight division.

The New Jersey native rolled past former flyweight title challenger and ex-strawweight champion Jessica Andrade in the UFC Fight 219 main event, winning via submission 1:37 into the second round of their bout at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. While it was expected that Blanchfield might have an advantage on the canvas, she also held her own on the feet against the heavy-handed Brazilian. The end result was a performance that could launch “Cold Blooded” into immediate title contention at 125 pounds.

5: Consecutive wins for Blanchfield, tying her with Manon Fiorot for the second-longest active winning streak in the women’s flyweight division. Only reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko (nine) has a longer streak at 125 pounds.

3: Submission wins in the UFC at 125 pounds for Blanchfield, tying her with Montana De La Rosa for second most in the history of the division. Gillian Robertson is first all-time with six.

2,723: Days since Andrade’s last submission defeat, a rear-naked choke loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC 191 on Sept. 5, 2015.

53: Significant strikes landed by Andrade. Blanchfield wasn’t far behind, as she landed 51. Blanchfield’s total included a 44-to-40 advantage in significant strikes landed in Round 1.

38: Significant clinch strikes landed by Zac Pauga in a three-round verdict against Jordan Wright in the light heavyweight co-main event. Pauga also logged 8:40 of control time in victory. By comparison, Wright landed 11 significant strikes from the clinch and secured just 13 seconds of control time.

199: Total strikes landed by Wright. Of those, only 29 were considered to be significant, as “The Beverly Hills Ninja” spent much of the fight landing offense with his back to the cage.

0: Ventures into the third round for Wright in 17 professional fights before going the distance against Pauga on Saturday.

63: Total leg kicks landed by Marcin Prachnio in a unanimous decision triumph over William Knight at light heavyweight. That’s a single fight record in UFC competition at 205 pounds and the third most ever in a three-round fight. By comparison, Knight landed just six significant leg strikes. All told, Prachnio outlanded his foe by a 79-to-8 count in significant strikes.

132: Significant strike deficit for Knight in his last three UFC appearances, which includes losses to Prachnio, Devin Clark and Maxim Grishin.

108: Significant strikes landed by Alexander Hernandez in a unanimous decision triumph over Jim Miller at lightweight, the most of anyone on the UFC Fight Night 219 card. Hernandez outlanded his foe 32 to 24 in Round 1, 34 to 16 in Round 2 and 42 to 27 in Round 3.

41: Octagon appearances for Miller, the most in UFC history ahead of Andrei Arlovski (39) and Donald Cerrone (38).

6:42:56: Total fight time for Miller, who after spending 15 minutes in the Octagon with Hernandez moved past Jeremy Stephens, Clay Guida and Diego Sanchez into fifth place on the UFC’s all-time list.

63: Significant strikes landed by Jamall Emmers in a clear-cut decision triumph over the previously undefeated Khusein Askhabov at featherweight. Emmers distributed his offense well, landing 27 strikes to the head, 18 to the body and 17 to the legs. He also landed at 43 percent success rate compared to just 26 percent for his opponent.

24: Light heavyweight bouts in UFC competition for Ovince St. Preux, tying him with the recently-retired Mauricio Rua for No. 1 all-time in the promotion. His latest appearance didn’t go well, as he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Philipe Lins in a preliminary affair.

18: Significant strikes — including one knockdown — landed by Lins in just 49 seconds of Octagon time. By comparison, St. Preux landed just one significant strike.

10: Reach advantage, in inches, for Themba Gorimba in his welterweight clash against A.J. Fletcher. That made no difference in the result, as Fletcher submitted his foe with a mounted guillotine 1:37 into Round 2.

3: Submissions attempted by promotional newcomer Clayton Carpenter en route to a first-round tapout of Juancamilo Ronderos in a preliminary flyweight bout. Carpenter tried for a triangle and an armbar from his back before securing the submission with a rear-naked choke at the 3:13 mark of Round 1.
