Former 155-pound king Eddie Alvarez will attempt to rebound after losing his belt to Conor McGregor last November when he locks horns with Dustin Poirier at UFC 211.

The Las Vegas-based promotion confirmed the lightweight pairing on Tuesday. UFC 211 takes place on May 13 at American Airlines Arena in Dallas and is headlined by a heavyweight championship clash between Stipe Miocic and Junior dos Santos.

Alvarez claimed lightweight gold with a first-round TKO stoppage of Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 90 before losing the strap to McGregor via second-round technical knockout at UFC 205. The ex-Bellator MMA titlist also owns triumphs over Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez in the Octagon.

After beginning his promotional tenure as a featherweight, Poirier has compiled a 5-1 mark at 155 pounds. He bounced back from a first-round knockout loss to Michael Johnson at UFC 208, where he took a majority decision against Jim Miller.
