UFC 166 Medical Suspensions: Dos Santos, Jordan, Boetsch Out Indefinitely

UFC 166 headliner Junior dos Santos was handed an indefinite medical suspension following his bloody defeat at the hands of Cain Velasquez this past Saturday.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation also suspended Shawn Jordan and Tim Boetsch indefinitely following the Oct. 19 event, which took place at Toyota Center in Houston. All three competitors may return to action upon receiving clearance from a physician.

Also of note, Velasquez was suspended until April 18 due to a possible broken jaw, while “Fight of the Night” winning lightweights Gilbert Melendez and Diego Sanchez were suspended until Nov. 19 and Jan. 18, respectively.

Top-10 flyweight talent Darrell Montague must also remain on the sidelines until Jan. 18 after suffering a first-round knockout at the hands of former title contender John Dodson, and former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt must sit out until Dec. 19 following his knockout loss to hard-punching southpaw Hector Lombard.
