KSW22 - PRIDE TIME

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Europe’s leading promotion KSW Federation opens 2013 with yet another star-studded event held in the capital of Poland - Warsaw. On March 16th Torwar arena will host KSW22 - Pride Time show featuring some of the best mixed martial arts competitors from Poland and abroad. If you miss the glitter and ferocity of fights in Pride, this card will surely bring back the best moments from the Japanese organization’s heyday.

In the event’s headliner the defending KSW light heavyweight champion Jan Błachowicz is set to square off against former UFC fighter Goran Reljic. The heavy-hitting Pole holds notable victories over Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Mario Miranda and Houston Alexander in his KSW championship tenure. The Cieszyn-born fighter spent the last month in the renowned Alliance MMA gym in San Diego preparing for the showdown with the experienced Croatian.

Reljic is a veteran of four UFC bouts and boats the MMA record of eleven wins and only three losses. The 28-year-old from Zadar is undefeated in his last three outings and promises to take Błachowicz’s belt back to Croatia.

The show’s co-main event features the KSW debut of the Atlanta 1996 judo Olympic Champion Paweł Nastula. The Polish sporting super star faces a tough challenge in experienced American Kavin Asplund. Nastula, being a judo Olympic, World and European champion, is not only one of the most successful Polish sportsman, but also the only Polish fighter to ever compete in the legendary Pride organization. Facing the Minnesotan heavyweight will be his last bout en route to the KSW heavyweight title fight.

KSW heavyweight strap is also the ultimate goal for Karol Bedorf. At KSW 22 the Berserkers Team Szczecin product faces UFC vet Oli Thompson. Coming off two KSW wins in a row one of the best heavyweights in Poland is looking to continue his streak by dispatching the British strongman . It will not be an easy task as the powerful Thompson comes to Poland with intention of earning another victory to his record.

For the first time in history KSW 22 fight card will include a featherweight clash. One of the best up-and-coming fighters in Poland Anzor Azhiev drops to 66 kilograms to battle former number one ranked featherweight Mariusz Pioskowik. The undefeated Chechen wrestler will look to neutralize his foe with his explosive takedowns, while the Silesian Cage Club Katowice representative will try to use his experience to win this spectacular match-up.

Another talented Polish mixed martial artist Piotr Strus returns to KSW white ring in the middleweight bout against Abu Azaitar. With both fighters having a stand-up background, this fight should be an entertaining striking battle. The Pole does not take his German opponent lightly as he also spent the last month in the United States training along with Błachowicz in San Diego’s Alliance MMA.

The card’s sole catchweight bout of eighty kilograms features Rafał Moks and Marcin Naruszczka. The Berserkers Team fighter as well as the Mataleo Team representative both look to bounce back after their recent KSW losses. It is certain they will do anything in their power to get the victory.

In the KSW 22 opening battle Kamil Waluś squares off against Cristos Piliafas. After his recent training camp with Alistair Overeem in the Blackzillians team Waluś plans to showcase his newly learnt skills to finish the American opponent.
