PFL’s Clay Collard Would Love to Destroy Jake & Logan Paul

On Dec. 12, recently-signed Professional Fighters League contender Clay Collard (18-8, 1 NC MMA; 9-2-3 Boxing) will fight Quincy LaVallais again on Top Rank’s Shakur Stevenson vs. Toka Khan Clary ESPN card in Las Vegas. The bout should have taken place on the Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez bill, but both fighters tested positive for COVID-19 a few days before the event.

“They texted me and told me I was positive,” he said. “You know, I had zero symptoms, I got zero symptoms, and I felt great the entire time, which is kind of a bummer. I didn't really get sick at all, I had to stay at home for 10 days and not doing anything and not going anywhere. I played many video games, read a little bit, and tried to work out the best I could at home, push-ups, sit-ups, and stuff like that. As soon as I could, I was back in the gym and going after it.”

Besides training at home, the Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran also watched the Mike Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. eight-round exhibition showcase that went down on Nov. 28.

“Anybody that is getting into the ring at their age and throwing down is awesome,” he said. “It was funny because you kind of saw glimpses of the past, especially with Mike. Glimpses of how he used to move and throw down. That was probably the only fight worth watching [on that card]. There was that Jake Paul or Logan Paul; that was a joke. The guy has always been running his mouth talking. I don't know, I just kind of have bad taste in my mouth because of that fight.”

Collard raised criticism against the web personalities who are crossing over into the boxing world recently. He isn't a fan of the hypothetical match between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul.

“I think that's stupid,” he stated. “There are fighters that worked their whole life and the whole career to get to fight someone like Mayweather. And then here comes this bum out of nowhere, you know, just because he has some celebrity behind him, then they are going to do it. I just think it's a joke. It makes real fighters look bad.”

If offered the chance to compete against the Logan brothers, “Cassius” would gladly accept.

“I would love to smash their face, yes,” he concluded. “I would love to show them what's like to get in a ring with a real fighter. And, I would hurt them, for sure.”

Thus far in 2020, has Collard scored five consecutive victories in the boxing ring. “Cassius” and LaVallais already clashed once last year in a battle that ended in a split draw. In a few days, they will have the chance to settle their rivalry once and for all. Next year, Collard will participate in the PFL 2021 season, where he has already eyed two-time PFL champion, Natan Schulte. The 2021 PFL season kicks off on April 23.
