By The Numbers: Charles Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier

Not long after Charles Oliveira ascended to the top of his weight class, others began formulating plans to remove him from power.

“Do Bronx” will defend the undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight title for the first time when he confronts Dustin Poirier in the UFC 269 main event on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Oliveira will climb into the Octagon with the wind of a nine-fight winning streak at his back. The longtime Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt last appeared at UFC 262, where he brought down Michael Chandler with punches and captured the vacant lightweight crown in the second round of their May 15 pairing. Poirier, meanwhile, has rattled off three straight victories. He last fought on July 10, when he completed his trilogy against Conor McGregor with a first-round technical knockout at UFC 264.

As Oliveira and Poirier inch ever closer to their high-stakes encounter, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

32: Years of age for Oliveira, who was born on Oct. 17, 1989 in Guaruja, Brazil.

19: Oliveira wins by submission, accounting for 61% of his career total (31). His methods of choice: seven rear-naked chokes, five guillotine chokes, three anaconda chokes, one triangle armbar, one armbar, one calf slicer and one triangle choke.
