Hermansson has rattled off five wins across his past six appearances. The former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titleholder last competed at UFC Fight Night 172, where he submitted Kelvin Gastelum with a heel hook just 78 seconds into their July 18 encounter. Vettori, meanwhile, finds himself on a three-fight winning streak. The Kings MMA representative last fought at UFC on ESPN 10 in June, when he submitted Karl Roberson with a first-round rear-naked choke.

As Hermansson and Vettori prepare for their high-stakes showdown, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

32: Years of age for Hermansson, who was born on June 10, 1988 in Uddevalla, Sweden—a town of some 30,000 people on the western side of the country.

11: Hermansson victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 52% of his career total (21). His list of victims includes Thales Leites, Bradley Scott and Alex Nicholson. “The Joker” owns six other wins by submission.

2: Submission losses on the Hermansson resume. He tapped to a triangle choke from Jason Butcher at Bellator 93 in 2013 and bowed to an arm-triangle choke from Cezar Ferreira at UFC Fight Night 100 in 2016.

49: Seconds needed for Hermansson to put away former two-division World Series of Fighting champion David Branch with a guillotine choke at UFC on ESPN 2 in March 2019. It ranks as the fifth-fastest submission in the history of the UFC’s middleweight division.

210: Significant strikes by which Hermansson has outlanded his 11 opponents in the UFC. His 417-207 margin has been aided by a 38-0 shutout of Scott, a 23-1 blowout of Nicholson and a 41-1 rout of Gerald Meerschaert.

27: Years of age for Vettori, who was born in Trento, Italy, on Sept. 20, 1993, roughly seven weeks before the Ultimate Fighting Championship made its debut.

9: Vettori victories by submission, providing him with 60% of his professional total (15). His methods of choice: four rear-naked chokes, three guillotine chokes, one triangle choke and one toe hold. Vettori has two other wins by knockout or technical knockout.

.851: Cumulative winning percentage between the four men—Alessandro Grandis, Bill Beaumont, Antonio Carlos Jr. and Israel Adesanya—who have beaten Vettori. All four of those losses resulted in decisions.

1: Regional title on Vettori’s mantle. He captured the Venator Fighting Championship welterweight crown in 2015 and then missed weight for his first title defense by more than six pounds, resulting in his being stripped of the championship and prompting his move to 185 pounds.

6: Organizations in which Vettori has competed as a mixed martial artist. He has gone 5-2-1 in the UFC, 5-0 in Venator, 2-1 in Ultimate Challenge MMA, 2-0 in Impera MMA Fighting Championship, 1-0 in Only Men Stuff and 0-1 in Next Generation Tournament. Advertisement
