Tim Sylvia casts quite a shadow at 6-foot-8 and upwards of 300 pounds—a sight with which the Ultimate Fighting Championship grew keenly familiar when “The Maine-iac” was at the height of his power.

Sylvia retired in 2015 with a 31-10 record and a pair of UFC title reigns behind him. He won 23 of his first 25 bouts as a professional before age, injuries and strength of schedule finally caught up to him. Sylvia closed out his career on a three-fight losing streak, having made his final appearance at Fight Nights Global event on Oct. 26, 2013. It resulted in a three-round unanimous decision loss to Ruslan Magomedov at Russia Concert Hall in Moscow.

As Sylvia’s exploits drift further and further into the past, a look at some of the numbers that accompanied him throughout his career:

47: Years of age for Sylvia, who was born on March 5, 1974 in Ellsworth, Maine.

22: Sylvia victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 71% of his career total (31). His list of UFC victims: Andrei Arlovski, Tra Telligman, Gan McGee, Ricco Rodriguez and Wesley Correira. Sylvia owns two other victories by submission and seven more by decision.

13: Consecutive calendar years in which Sylvia fought as a mixed martial artist. He took five fights in 2001, nine in 2002, two in 2003, two in 2004, three in 2005, four in 2006, two in 2007, two in 2008, two in 2009, three in 2010, three in 2011, three in 2012 and three in 2013.

16: Straight wins to start Sylvia’s career between Jan. 29, 2001 and Sept. 26, 2003. It was his longest such streak as a pro, though he later enjoyed three-, four- and six-fight tears.

138: Significant strikes landed by Sylvia in his second-round technical knockout of Correira in the UFC 39 co-feature on Sept. 27, 2002. It was the only time the 6-foot-8 Pat Miletich protégé exceeded the century mark inside the Octagon.

551: Days spent by Sylvia as undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight titleholder. They encompass two title reigns, from Feb. 28, 2003 to Oct. 15, 2003 and April 15, 2006 to March 3, 2007. Sylvia remains one of four heavyweights—Randy Couture, Cain Velasquez and Stipe Miocic are the others—to capture the crown on more than one occasion.

18: First-round finishes on the Sylvia resume, only four of which took place inside the Octagon. He wiped out Rodriguez with punches in 3:09 at UFC 41, took care of McGee with punches in 1:54 at UFC 44, brought down Telligman with a head kick in 4:59 at UFC 54 and sank Arlovski with punches in 2:43 at UFC 59.

12: Seconds needed for Sylvia to strike down Randy Smith with punches under the New England Fights banner on June 16, 2012. It was the fastest stoppage victory of his 42-fight career.

4: Countries in which Sylvia competed as a mixed martial artist. He went 31-7 in the United States, 0-1 with one no contest in the Philippines, 0-1 in Russia and 0-1 in Japan.

.693: Cumulative winning percentage between the 10 men—Magomedov, Arlovski, Couture, Tony Johnson , Satoshi Ishii, Abe Wagner, Ray Mercer, Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir—who defeated Sylvia. They boast a combined record of 208-88-4 (.693).
