Report: Bobby Green Returns From Retirement to Meet Francisco Trinaldo at UFC Sao Paulo

Like many other combatants that hang up their gloves prematurely, Bobby Green is back after an eight-month "retirement."

According to a report from MMAFighting on Friday, Green (24-9-1) returns to face Francisco Trinaldo (23-7) at UFC Sao Paulo. The event will be held on Nov. 16 at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the whole card will air on ESPN+.

Green temporarily retired in December after dropping a contentious decision to Drakkar Klose at UFC on Fox 31. The California native had a career spanning several promotions including five fights in Strikeforce and even an appearance in the short-lived Affliction organization. His "Fight of the Night" split draw with Lando Vannata at UFC 216 in 2017 is one of only eight in promotional history, which came when Vannata lost a point in the opening round after connecting with an illegal knee.

Trinaldo has alternated wins and losses in his last six outings, including stoppages over Paul Felder and Evan Dunham along with a submission loss to Kevin Lee. Most recently, he suffered an equally controversial decision loss to Alexander Hernandez. "Massaranduba" made his company debut on "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil," and although he lost in the competition, he actually first competed with the Las Vegas-based organization at middleweight. At UFC 147 in 2012, he knocked out Delson Heleno, and then made the decision to drop down two weight classes to his normal lightweight designation.

UFC Fight Night 164 will take place at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Nov. 16. Although a main event has not been announced, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will square off with Trevor Smith at light heavyweight, while Kevin Holland meets the debuting Antonio Arroyo at middleweight.
