Olivier Aubin-Mercier Thinks He’s Much Better Technically than Bruno Miranda

Olivier Aubin-Mercier has a healthy respect for his next opponent's abilities, but he believes he has the key to repeating as Professional Fighters League lightweight champion.

To achieve the feat and pocket another $1 million, Aubin-Mercier (19-5, 8-0 PFL) first needs to get past Bruno Miranda. The pair will clash in the PFL playoffs on Aug. 23 in an intriguing matchup that will see one of the contestants losing his unblemished promotional record. “The Canadian Gangster” made his PFL debut in 2021 and won the championship the next year. This year, he secured his place in the playoffs after overcoming Shane Burgos via unanimous decision and knocking out Anthony Romero with a knee in the third frame of their clash in June. Ahead of his upcoming assignment, Aubin-Mercier acknowledged that Miranda hits hard and is an active fighter, but while respecting his opponent’s abilities, he also expressed confidence in his own skills. Aubin-Mercier anticipates that his superior technique will be evident during their fight.

“I'm always ready for the worst that could happen. Am I waiting for an easy fight with Bruno? I don't think so. Bruno is a really, really dangerous man. He hits like a truck, and he's really, really active. He's a really, really good athlete. I think it's a hard matchup for anybody. I do think I'm a lot better than him technically, and I think it's gonna show during the fight.”
